Massive Cloudflare Outage: Why "Time for Action" and Millions of Sites Went Down
On November 18, 2025, millions of users around the world faced problems accessing their favorite online resources. The reason was a global outage at one of the internet’s key infrastructure players, Cloudflare. Ukraine was no exception: the outage affected our site “Time for Action” as well as hundreds of other services that rely on Cloudflare for protection and content delivery.
The outage began in the middle of the day and lasted for more than two hours. During this time, users were frequently seeing “500” errors or messages about an inability to connect to servers. At the peak of the incident, most users 64% could not connect to sites, and another 23% experienced loading issues. This means the problems hit not just individual projects but entire segments of the global internet.
Cloudflare: Why It Matters to Everyone
Cloudflare is not just a service that speeds up website loading. It is an infrastructure shield and content delivery platform serving millions of projects from local news resources to global giants.
Among those affected this time were OpenAI (ChatGPT), Claude, X (Twitter), Spotify, Uber, Letterboxd, and even outage monitoring services like Downdetector. In other words, any issue at the Cloudflare level instantly becomes global.
Cloudflare reported an “unusual spike in traffic to one of its services.” The exact cause of the outage is still unknown, but an investigation is ongoing. At the same time, scheduled maintenance was taking place at the Frankfurt and Atlanta data centers on the day of the incident. The company’s official status warns of potential delays in these regions, but there is no confirmation so far that these works triggered the global issues.
“A fix has been implemented, the incident is resolved. We continue to monitor to ensure the stable operation of all services,” Cloudflare’s message said.
However, some users, including in Ukraine, continued to experience difficulties accessing the Cloudflare admin panel and services for some time afterward.
How This Affected “Time for Action”
Our site also felt the effects of this global outage. Some users were unable to access the portal or noticed delays in page loading, especially when navigating main sections or clicking links in news articles. The “Time for Action” team monitored the situation and checked all core site functions so that, after Cloudflare services were restored, users could once again access all information.
Post List
The Cloudflare outage once again demonstrated how much the modern internet depends on critical infrastructure providers. When one of these platforms experiences an outage, everyone feels it: businesses, users, newsrooms, and even large tech corporations.
This situation highlights the importance of backup solutions, transparent communications, and regular infrastructure testing. For media outlets, it is a reminder of the fragility of even the most powerful systems and the need to invest in flexibility and risk planning.
Cloudflare responded quickly, but the incident showed that complete independence from major infrastructure players is almost impossible today. That’s why editorial teams must be prepared for unexpected disruptions and ensure maximum stability of information access for their audiences.
