Defense Tech Valley 2025: How Ukraine Attracted Over $100 Million in Defense Tech Investments
Ukraine has positioned itself as a center of defense technology development, bringing together over 5,000 participants and more than one and a half thousand foreign guests from over 50 countries at the Defense Tech Valley 2025 summit in Lviv. The main outcome was the announcement of over $100 million in investments in the defense technology sector. This event became the largest in the field of defense innovation for Ukraine and a clear signal of international trust in the potential of Ukrainian solutions.
At the summit, four international companies from Europe and the United States officially announced plans to invest more than $100 million in Ukraine’s defense sector. NUNC Capital (Netherlands) is allocating €20 million to scale promising Ukrainian defense companies, focusing on new materials and manufacturing technologies. Verne Capital (Germany/Luxembourg) plans to invest up to €25 million in cybersecurity and defense projects.
Varangians (Sweden) presented its own investment plan, having already closed its first deal details will be published soon. Oedipus INC created a permanent capital fund for cooperation with Ukrainian defense tech companies. A symbolic announcement came from Swarmer, the developer of “drone swarm” technology: the company raised $15 million in Series A funding from a group of American investment funds led by Broadband Capital Investments.
A Signal of Trust for Ukrainian Developers
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that attracting over $100 million in investments became an important signal of trust and a confirmation of the potential of Ukrainian solutions for the global security market. According to Fedorov, in recent years, Ukraine has gradually become one of the centers of defense technology development. “Right now, Ukraine is the center of global defense tech, where technologies undergo the toughest trials and reach a global level,” he summarized.
Legislative changes, the launch of the Brave1 platform, and the emergence of state grant support have opened up new opportunities for Ukrainian producers, increased competition and profitability, and contributed to the growth of defense innovation. According to Fedorov, the average investment in Ukrainian defense tech companies has grown from $300,000 to $1 million. This reflects increased trust and investors’ willingness to scale up their involvement.
New Challenges and Key Agreements
Among the key agreements announced at the summit are the long-term partnership plans from NUNC Capital, Verne Capital, and Varangians with Ukrainian manufacturers. Oedipus INC announced preparations for ambitious cooperation. Swarmer received support from American investment funds, confirming that “drone swarm” technologies are becoming competitive in the global market.
Although some of the announced deals are currently plans or public statements, for the sector, this is a powerful signal. The fact of attracting over $100 million in direct and venture investments demonstrates that Ukraine’s defense sector is an attractive platform for innovation and capital.
The Brave1 Platform and the Future of Ukrainian Defense Tech
The state platform Brave1 plays a separate role in this process, acting as the largest angel investor for the sector. New grant programs and competitions have already been announced, aimed at accelerating the development of defense technologies. By the end of the year, 2.7 billion UAH will be allocated to support innovative projects in the field. This is an additional boost for development and competition.
The Defense Tech Valley 2025 summit gathered a record audience over 5,000 participants, more than 300 investors, and over 1,500 foreign guests from 50+ countries. The event became a platform for showcasing advanced technologies, exchanging experience, and presenting startups that are already gaining global recognition.
Not Just Business, but a Matter of National Security
Ukraine is not only integrating into the global defense technology market but also shaping its rules and standards. Thanks to the decisions of the government, the efforts of the President, Parliament, and relevant ministries, conditions have been created for transparent competition, increased profitability in the industry, and the attraction of new investors. As the Brave1 team emphasizes, “Ukraine is the center of global defense tech. This is where the technologies of the world’s future security are born.”
The Defense Tech Valley 2025 summit in Lviv was not only the biggest defense event of the year but also demonstrated a new level of trust in Ukraine as a platform for investment and innovation. Over $100 million is not just a number but a symbol that Ukrainian technologies are recognized and valued globally. Today, Ukraine’s defense industry is not only being tested by war but is also responding to the challenges of the future.
